Description Radek Lat 2011-06-16 16:41:19 UTC
Description of problem:
When some text in gnome-terminal is selected by searching it (using dialog in Search - Find...) and then copied into clipboard using shortcut, menu or popup menu item, it does not appear in the clipboard.

When this kind of selection appears, it enables the menu item for copying so I think it should be possible copy it or it should not activated that item at all.

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):

How reproducible:
gnome-terminal-2.31.3-6.el6.x86_64

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Run gnome-terminal and gedit
2. In gnome-terminal type "redhat"
3. Go Search - Find...
4. Set "Search for" to "redhat", leave all options unchecked, then press "Find" button.
5. Close dialog, make sure you still have redhat selected
6. Go Edit - Copy (alternatively right click - Copy or press Shift+Ctrl+C)
7. Switch into gedit and press Ctrl+V

Actual results:
Nothing gets pasted into gedit

Expected results:
The "redhat" string, that was selected and copied should be also pasted into gedit.

Enterprise Linux. If you would like it considered as an
exception in the current release, please ask your support

Comment 2 Jan Kurik 2017-12-06 10:21:20 UTC
Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6 is in the Production 3 Phase. During the Production 3 Phase, Critical impact Security Advisories (RHSAs) and selected Urgent Priority Bug Fix Advisories (RHBAs) may be released as they become available.

The official life cycle policy can be reviewed here:

http://redhat.com/rhel/lifecycle

This issue does not meet the inclusion criteria for the Production 3 Phase and will be marked as CLOSED/WONTFIX. If this remains a critical requirement, please contact Red Hat Customer Support to request a re-evaluation of the issue, citing a clear business justification. Note that a strong business justification will be required for re-evaluation. Red Hat Customer Support can be contacted via the Red Hat Customer Portal at the following URL:
