Recently (in the last month) I've noticed that when I try to open a folder on my desktop it takes ages (read: about 10-15 seconds). That has never happened in the past. All files open immediately and once the folder is opened, everything is snappy. It seems that nautilus started checking autofs mounts (?), because this started appearing in /var/log/messages: ... Jun 18 23:32:05 kovinek automount[1914]: lookup_mount: exports lookup failed for marooner Jun 18 23:32:08 kovinek automount[1914]: lookup_mount: exports lookup failed for marooner Jun 18 23:32:08 kovinek dbus-daemon: [system] Rejected send message, 2 matched rules; type="method_call", sender=":1.210" (uid=10625 pid=1868 comm="nautilus) interface="org.freedesktop.DBus.Properties" member="GetAll" error name="(unset)" requested_reply=0 destination=":1.16" (uid=0 pid=2230 comm="/usr/sbin/console-kit-daemon)) Jun 18 23:32:11 kovinek automount[1914]: lookup_mount: exports lookup failed for marooner Jun 18 23:32:14 kovinek automount[1914]: lookup_mount: exports lookup failed for marooner Jun 18 23:32:17 kovinek automount[1914]: lookup_mount: exports lookup failed for marooner Jun 18 23:32:20 kovinek automount[1914]: lookup_mount: exports lookup failed for marooner Jun 18 23:32:23 kovinek automount[1914]: lookup_mount: exports lookup failed for marooner Jun 18 23:32:26 kovinek automount[1914]: lookup_mount: exports lookup failed for marooner Jun 18 23:32:29 kovinek automount[1914]: lookup_mount: exports lookup failed for marooner Jun 18 23:32:32 kovinek automount[1914]: lookup_mount: exports lookup failed for marooner ... The NFS server is down ATM, which is likely the cause for the delays. I don't have anything special in local autofs config. I'm symlinking from /mnt to /net auto mounts. kovinek:~ (0) # ls -l /mnt |grep marooner lrwxrwxrwx. 1 root root 26 May 2 2010 lmirror -> /net/marooner/mnt/lmirror/ lrwxrwxrwx. 1 root root 24 May 2 2010 media -> /net/marooner/mnt/media/ And yes, when I shutdown the autofs service the folder start opening immediately again. $ rpm -q nautilus autofs nautilus-2.32.2.1-2.fc14.x86_64 autofs-5.0.5-31.fc14.x86_64 I was trying to get some debug logs from nautilus started from the terminal, but I'm a bit low on my desktop hacker's foo. If you tell me what to do, I'll be more than happy to supply you with the logs :)
This message is a notice that Fedora 14 is now at end of life. Fedora has stopped maintaining and issuing updates for Fedora 14. It is Fedora's policy to close all bug reports from releases that are no longer maintained. At this time, all open bugs with a Fedora 'version' of '14' have been closed as WONTFIX. (Please note: Our normal process is to give advanced warning of this occurring, but we forgot to do that. A thousand apologies.) Package Maintainer: If you wish for this bug to remain open because you plan to fix it in a currently maintained version, feel free to reopen this bug and simply change the 'version' to a later Fedora version. Bug Reporter: Thank you for reporting this issue and we are sorry that we were unable to fix it before Fedora 14 reached end of life. If you would still like to see this bug fixed and are able to reproduce it against a later version of Fedora, you are encouraged to click on "Clone This Bug" (top right of this page) and open it against that version of Fedora. Although we aim to fix as many bugs as possible during every release's lifetime, sometimes those efforts are overtaken by events. Often a more recent Fedora release includes newer upstream software that fixes bugs or makes them obsolete. The process we are following is described here: http://fedoraproject.org/wiki/BugZappers/HouseKeeping
