Description Need Real Name 2002-08-13 19:59:11 UTC
From Bugzilla Helper:
User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (compatible; Konqueror/3.0.0-10; Linux)

Description of problem:
The installer detects an aix7xxx scsi interface instead of the ICP vortex that the machine has. It DOES see the disks, however when it tries to install the first rpm (I believe glibc) it hangs. No error messages and cannot switch VTs. Solution was to "boot: linux noprobe" and manually load the isc driver. This seems to work.

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):

How reproducible:
Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Boot installer
2. Install
3.

Actual Results: Hangs before completing installation of first rpm

Expected Results: complete installation

Additional info:

Dual Pentium III 850 on a L440GX intel board. 1024MB memory, ICP Vortex RAID card, 2 IBM ultrastar drives in raid 1 config.

Could you attach the output of 'lspci -v' and 'lspci -vn'?

Comment 3 Bill Nottingham 2002-08-23 20:15:11 UTC
If the installer is hanging, this is probably a kernel issue with one of the two
drivers.

Comment 4 Arjan van de Ven 2002-08-23 20:21:12 UTC
did you use the apic option ?

Comment 5 Need Real Name 2002-08-23 20:42:41 UTC
Not familiar with the apic option, so I don't think so.

Comment 6 Arjan van de Ven 2002-08-23 20:54:08 UTC
ok please type
linux apic

on the very very first screen; that works around most of the 440GX issues...
