Description Harald Reindl 2011-06-21 13:25:59 UTC
the problem that customized soundfile for new mails not working
most of the time exists since years

until F15 a ugly workaround was add 3-5 seconds silence at the end
of the soundfile with audacity

since Fedora 15 this does also not work and there is something
like a "plop" to hear or not to hear if you are not directly
before your machine

attached my soundfile

Could you elaborate on "not working" a bit? For me setting sound to /usr/share/sounds/purple/receive.wav (for example) makes this sound just working. What's wrong?

Thenk you for reporting the bug

Comment 3 Harald Reindl 2011-08-30 08:33:39 UTC
not working = there is nothing to hear
have you tried ma attachment?

this did not work a long time and after adding 15 seconds silence
it worked for some months and after F15-update it stopped again

maybe becasue i am KDE user but on the other hand should it really not be a problem for thunderbird plaing sounds in a KDE session

Comment 4 Martin Stransky 2012-05-03 12:33:22 UTC
Can you please try that in gnome? I'd like know if that's KDE specific or not. Thanks.

Comment 5 Harald Reindl 2012-05-03 12:42:00 UTC
at least with Fedora 16 (upgraded recently) it starts to work again
strange thing, hopefully it stays working

Comment 6 Harald Reindl 2012-05-03 12:43:43 UTC
can we please have a kernel-3.3.4-3.fc16
currently only F17 package is available and F16 is the production system

Comment 7 Martin Stransky 2012-05-03 12:51:46 UTC
Okay, please reopen if it starts to fail again. About the kernel, you have to a separate bug for the kernel component.
