Description Tethys 2011-06-27 13:42:16 UTC
Description of problem:
No option to select an alternate desktop

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):
gdm-3.0.4-1.fc15.x86_64

How reproducible:
Every time

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Create $HOME/.Xclients
2. Install xorg-x11-xinit-xsession
3. Log in

Actual results:
Unable to select "user script" anywhere, so get default gnome desktop.

Expected results:
Dropdown box to select "user script" as my desktop choice, as in
previous versions of Fedora.

Additional info:
In previous versions of Fedora, I could easily have my own desktop, one
that I have used for nearly 20 years and am extremely comfortable. Until
I can do this with F15, it is essentially unusable to me.

Comment 1 Tethys 2011-06-28 11:12:45 UTC
Hmmm... OK, I now have this, but only after a reboot. Installing
xorg-x11-xinit-xsession and logging out was not sufficient. This
is extremely unintuitive, although not as critical as I previously
thought.

I don´t seem to have the ability to drop the severity for this
bug, however.

Thank you for your bug report, however is not actually a bug.
GDM had to restart after installing xorg-x11-xinit-xsession. This is why your reboot fixed the issue.

In the future, if you need to restart gdm you can issue "service prefdm restart".

Thank you.
