Description Aram Agajanian 2011-07-01 23:34:27 UTC
Description of problem:
When I open a certain PDF file with evince, some of the pages aren't rendered properly. They show up as blank. The PDF can be found at the following URL.

http://public.dhe.ibm.com/software/data/cognos/documentation/docs/en/8.4.1/inst_cr_winux.pdf

Also, when this PDF file is opened, messages like the following are displayed on stdout:

Error: Missing 'endstream'
Error: Object (3694 0) is not a pageDict
Error: Failed parsing page 4 using hint tables
Error: Object (3706 0) is not a pageDict
Error: Failed parsing page 6 using hint tables
Error: Object (3712 0) is not a pageDict

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):

evince-3.0.2-1.fc15.x86_64
poppler-0.16.6-1.fc15.x86_64

How reproducible:
Happens every time

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Open the PDF at the above URL with evince.

Actual results: Some pages are blank.

Expected results: All pages should be rendered properly.

Just as a point of reference... In Fedora 14 (which I understand is not the latest), the document looks complete in Evince. No page is blank.

$ rpm -q evince
evince-2.32.0-4.fc14.x86_64
$ rpm -q poppler
poppler-0.14.5-3.fc14.x86_64

Comment 2 Fedora End Of Life 2012-08-06 19:55:07 UTC
This message is a notice that Fedora 15 is now at end of life. Fedora
has stopped maintaining and issuing updates for Fedora 15. It is
Fedora's policy to close all bug reports from releases that are no
longer maintained. At this time, all open bugs with a Fedora 'version'
of '15' have been closed as WONTFIX.

(Please note: Our normal process is to give advanced warning of this
occurring, but we forgot to do that. A thousand apologies.)

Package Maintainer: If you wish for this bug to remain open because you
plan to fix it in a currently maintained version, feel free to reopen
this bug and simply change the 'version' to a later Fedora version.

Bug Reporter: Thank you for reporting this issue and we are sorry that
we were unable to fix it before Fedora 15 reached end of life. If you
would still like to see this bug fixed and are able to reproduce it
against a later version of Fedora, you are encouraged to click on
"Clone This Bug" (top right of this page) and open it against that
version of Fedora.

Although we aim to fix as many bugs as possible during every release's
lifetime, sometimes those efforts are overtaken by events. Often a
more recent Fedora release includes newer upstream software that fixes
bugs or makes them obsolete.

The process we are following is described here:

Comment 4 Aram Agajanian 2012-08-06 20:15:31 UTC
All of pages that I looked at in this document seem be rendered OK with the current releases:

evince-3.4.0-2.fc17.x86_64
poppler-0.18.4-3.fc17.x86_64

The error messages described in Comment #0 are still printed to stderr.
