Red Hat Satellite engineering is moving the tracking of its product development work on Satellite to Red Hat Jira (issues.redhat.com). If you're a Red Hat customer, please continue to file support cases via the Red Hat customer portal. If you're not, please head to the "Satellite project" in Red Hat Jira and file new tickets here. Individual Bugzilla bugs will be migrated starting at the end of May. If you cannot log in to RH Jira, please consult article #7032570. That failing, please send an e-mail to the RH Jira admins at rh-issues@redhat.com to troubleshoot your issue as a user management inquiry. The email creates a ServiceNow ticket with Red Hat. Individual Bugzilla bugs that are migrated will be moved to status "CLOSED", resolution "MIGRATED", and set with "MigratedToJIRA" in "Keywords". The link to the successor Jira issue will be found under "Links", have a little "two-footprint" icon next to it, and direct you to the "Satellite project" in Red Hat Jira (issue links are of type "https://issues.redhat.com/browse/SAT-XXXX", where "X" is a digit). This same link will be available in a blue banner at the top of the page informing you that that bug has been migrated.

Description Jeff Weiss 2011-07-11 15:12:18 UTC
Description of problem:
Apparently you have to create a change set before you can click +Add, but that is not obvious to the end user. The help text doesn't say anything about creating a change set first.

I see two possible solutions, the easiest is adding the necessary info to the help text. A bit harder would be to automatically start creating a change set if the user clicks +Add and there aren't any change sets.

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):
katello-0.1.49-1.git.351.4aac21a.fc14.noarch

Should be be fixed now.:

Promotions allow you to promote content from one environment to the next along a promotion path. Once you have created a changeset, clicking "Add" next to one or more products will add them to the change set. If products already exist in the next environment, you may promote other types of content. Once you have created a change set, click the "Promote" button to commit it to the next environment.

Also buttons now do not show up at all instead of being disabled.

Comment 2 Sachin Ghai 2011-08-25 12:54:43 UTC
Verified with following katello build:

katello-cli-0.1.5-1.git.15.654a7df.fc15.noarch
katello-0.1.70-1.git.7.ca8d03c.fc15.noarch

Now we can see the help text as stated above in comment1 under the 'Promotions' tab. And this help message clearly state everything.

And +Add button is only available if any changset is there for promoting the product to next env.

otherwise, no +Add button is visible to user.
