Description Sjoerd Mullender 2011-07-12 19:02:44 UTC
Description of problem:
I think it happens after a suspend/resume cycle while running the XFCE desktop.
nm-applet was running before the suspend and displayed its icon in the XFCE taskbar. After resume, the applet is gone and in the log file I find this (I'm not sure all messages belong together):

** (nm-applet:2145): WARNING **: _nm_object_get_property: Error getting 'Default
' for /org/freedesktop/NetworkManager/ActiveConnection/2: (19) Method "Get" with
signature "ss" on interface "org.freedesktop.DBus.Properties" doesn't exist

** (nm-applet:2145): WARNING **: _nm_object_get_property: Error getting 'Default
' for /org/freedesktop/NetworkManager/ActiveConnection/2: (19) Method "Get" with signature "ss" on interface "org.freedesktop.DBus.Properties" doesn't exist

(nm-applet:2145): Gdk-WARNING **: The program 'nm-applet' received an X Window System error.
This probably reflects a bug in the program.
The error was 'XI_BadDevice (invalid Device parameter)'.
  (Details: serial 1920 error_code 149 request_code 141 minor_code 48)
  (Note to programmers: normally, X errors are reported asynchronously;
that is, you will receive the error a while after causing it.
To debug your program, run it with the --sync command line
option to change this behavior. You can then get a meaningful
backtrace from your debugger if you break on the gdk_x_error() function.)

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):
NetworkManager-gnome-0.8.9997-5.git20110702.fc15.x86_64
xfce4-panel-4.8.5-1.fc15.x86_64

How reproducible:
It happens quite often, possibly only after a longer suspend/resume cycle (it didn't happen after a quick cycle).

Steps to Reproduce:
1.make sure nm-applet was started
2.suspend
3.wait?
4.resume

Actual results:
nm-applet is dead, the icon is gone from the toolbar.

Expected results:
nm-applet alive with icon in the toolbar.

Comment 1 Fedora End Of Life 2012-08-07 16:02:19 UTC
This message is a notice that Fedora 15 is now at end of life. Fedora
has stopped maintaining and issuing updates for Fedora 15. It is
Fedora's policy to close all bug reports from releases that are no
longer maintained. At this time, all open bugs with a Fedora 'version'
of '15' have been closed as WONTFIX.

(Please note: Our normal process is to give advanced warning of this
occurring, but we forgot to do that. A thousand apologies.)

Package Maintainer: If you wish for this bug to remain open because you
plan to fix it in a currently maintained version, feel free to reopen
this bug and simply change the 'version' to a later Fedora version.

Bug Reporter: Thank you for reporting this issue and we are sorry that
we were unable to fix it before Fedora 15 reached end of life. If you
would still like to see this bug fixed and are able to reproduce it
against a later version of Fedora, you are encouraged to click on
"Clone This Bug" (top right of this page) and open it against that
version of Fedora.

Although we aim to fix as many bugs as possible during every release's
lifetime, sometimes those efforts are overtaken by events. Often a
more recent Fedora release includes newer upstream software that fixes
bugs or makes them obsolete.

The process we are following is described here:
