Red Hat Product Errata RHSA-2013:0521 normal SHIPPED_LIVE Moderate: pam security, bug fix, and enhancement update 2013-02-20 16:28:50 EST

  None (edit)
Description Jacob Hunt 2011-07-19 12:25:11 EDT
Document that the files in /etc/security/limits.d will overwrite the values set in /etc/security/limits.conf. This should be added as a comment in the limits.conf file. Also add mention of that directory in the manpage for limits.conf.
Comment 1 RHEL Product and Program Management 2011-07-19 12:38:11 EDT
This request was evaluated by Red Hat Product Management for
inclusion in the current release of Red Hat Enterprise Linux.
Because the affected component is not scheduled to be updated
in the current release, Red Hat is unfortunately unable to
address this request at this time. Red Hat invites you to
ask your support representative to propose this request, if
appropriate and relevant, in the next release of Red Hat
Enterprise Linux. If you would like it considered as an
exception in the current release, please ask your support
representative.
Comment 2 Tomas Mraz 2011-07-19 13:03:01 EDT
The processing of the limits.d is mentioned in the pam_limits manual page so I do not think this is really a bug but rather a feature request to mention it at more places.
Comment 3 Jacob Hunt 2011-07-19 13:12:58 EDT
Tomas,

You are correct it is more of a feature request as opposed to a bug and I should have noted it as such, my apologies on not doing so to help clarify this request.

Comment 6 RHEL Product and Program Management 2012-07-10 01:48:24 EDT
This request was not resolved in time for the current release.
Red Hat invites you to ask your support representative to
propose this request, if still desired, for consideration in
the next release of Red Hat Enterprise Linux.
Comment 7 Ludek Smid 2012-07-10 11:17:28 EDT
This request was erroneously removed from consideration in
Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6.4, which is currently under
development. This request will be evaluated for inclusion
in Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6.4.
