Created attachment 514842 [details] screenshot of kernel panic Description of problem: See attached screenshot Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable): kernel-3.0.0-1.fc16.x86_64 (and previous kernel as well) How reproducible: seems to be always (only tried one poweroff on each kernel) Additional info: This is a VirtualBox 4.1.0 Rawhide x86_64 guest in a F15 x86_64 host.
Same problem here, with F16-rawhide installed on my laptop. See my screen-shot here : http://pix.toile-libre.org/upload/original/1311445208.jpg I don't think that it's a kernel panic, because there is same problem with all kernel. I test with GNOME and Kde with same result.
Rechecked and it happens consistently for me with the latest two kernels (3.0.0-1.fc16.x86_64 and 3.0-0.rc7.git10.1.fc16.x86_64), but never with the previous one (3.0-0.rc7.git3.1.fc16.x86_64). Never saw it with earlier kernels either.
I have 3 kernels in my rawhide: -3.0-0.rc7.git3.1.fc16.x86_64 -3.0-0.rc7.git10.1.fc16.x86_64 -3.0.0-1.fc16.x86_64 And with this 3 kernels, I have kernel-panic when I want re-boot or shut-down. But this kernel-panic appear with the 3.0-0.rc7.git10.1.fc16.x86_64, and before I have no problem with the 3.0-0.rc7.git3.1.fc16.x86_64. After installing the 3.0-0.rc7.git10.1.fc16.x86_64, the problem appear also on 3.0-0.rc7.git3.1.fc16.x86_64. So I think it's not a kernel problem, but another problem, may-be perf ?
Want to join this bug. My kernel is 3.0.0-1.fc16.i686 and I got "kernel-panic" only with this kernel.
The kernel panicked because PID 1 died. *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of bug 724928 ***
