Consider synching rhel code with upstream, wrt to the p2m tree. This was already attempted once with bug 716498 (see patches 1382eec..c5b979d), but the backport introduced a regression and was reverted.

I chatted with Igor and it sounds like the main reason (besides more efficient use of memory in PV guests) is to lay some foundation for future backports. That's a good reason, but without future backports in mind, then it might not be necessary. I'm closing this bug. If we do need these patches for some backport, then they'll get pulled in with whatever backport that is under whatever BZ that will be.
