Description Frank Danapfel 2011-07-30 21:21:10 UTC
Description of problem:
From the original bug report (http://savannah.nongnu.org/bugs/?29108):

The automatic reset that the "arduino" programmer type should perform before uploading fails (for some boards) under Linux. The code generates a rising edge, rather than the falling edge needed for the reset to occur. This is because the ser_set_dtr_rts() function in ser_posix.c is backwards, setting the lines when they should be cleared and vice-versa. See patch #7100: https://savannah.nongnu.org/patch/?7100 for a fix.

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):
avrdude-5.10-3.fc15.x86_64

How reproducible:
always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. connect arduino uno board
2. run avrdude to upload sketch

Actual results:
avrdude starts uploading but then fails with error:

avrdude: stk500_recv(): programmer is not responding

Expected results:
Upload to arduino board should work without error.

Additional info:
I rebuild the avrdude-5.10-3.fc15.x86_64 package with the patch mentioned above, and afterwards uploading of new sketches to my arduino uno worked without problems.

Package avrdude-5.11-1.fc16:
* should fix your issue,
* was pushed to the Fedora 16 testing repository,
* should be available at your local mirror within two days.
Update it with:
# su -c 'yum update --enablerepo=updates-testing avrdude-5.11-1.fc16'
as soon as you are able to.

then log in and leave karma (feedback).

Comment 6 Frank Danapfel 2011-09-14 19:03:25 UTC
After installing the new version of avrdude using "sudo yum update --enablerepo=updates-testing avrdude-5.11-1.fc15" uploading data to the Arduino Uno works without problems again.

Comment 7 Hans Ulrich Niedermann 2011-09-16 07:13:31 UTC
Thanks for reporting and testing!

I'll push to stable in a week or so unless the karma +3 does that automatically (in which case it will happen earlier) or unless someone reports some big bad regression bug (in which case I'll fix that first).

Comment 12 Fedora End Of Life 2012-08-07 20:26:27 UTC
This message is a notice that Fedora 15 is now at end of life. Fedora
has stopped maintaining and issuing updates for Fedora 15. It is
Fedora's policy to close all bug reports from releases that are no
longer maintained. At this time, all open bugs with a Fedora 'version'
of '15' have been closed as WONTFIX.

(Please note: Our normal process is to give advanced warning of this
occurring, but we forgot to do that. A thousand apologies.)

Package Maintainer: If you wish for this bug to remain open because you
plan to fix it in a currently maintained version, feel free to reopen
this bug and simply change the 'version' to a later Fedora version.

Bug Reporter: Thank you for reporting this issue and we are sorry that
we were unable to fix it before Fedora 15 reached end of life. If you
would still like to see this bug fixed and are able to reproduce it
against a later version of Fedora, you are encouraged to click on
"Clone This Bug" (top right of this page) and open it against that
version of Fedora.

Although we aim to fix as many bugs as possible during every release's
lifetime, sometimes those efforts are overtaken by events. Often a
more recent Fedora release includes newer upstream software that fixes
bugs or makes them obsolete.

The process we are following is described here:
http://fedoraproject.org/wiki/BugZappers/HouseKeeping
