Description Patrick Dubois 2011-08-27 02:03:32 UTC
Description of problem: Lockup of GPU. Reboot presents the same problem over again. Transparency and 3d acceleration appear to trigger the bug.

Fedora 15 with all updates applied as of August 25th 2011.

How reproducible: always.

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Log into KDE account with 3d enabled.
2. enable window transparency or play 3d screensaver
3. Enjoy GPU lockup, now with added user frustration.

Actual results: GPU lockup with any 3d accel feature.

Expected results: Normal user experience.

Additional info:

Package: kernel
Latest Crash:	Fri 26 Aug 2011 09:19:24 PM
Command: not_applicable
Reason: WARNING: at drivers/gpu/drm/radeon/radeon_fence.c:235 radeon_fence_wait+0x22e/0x2cd [radeon]()

Comment: This card has traditionally been bulletproof. The last round of updates I performed last week appear to have introduced a regression in either the radeon drivers or Xorg.

Video card is ATI Sapphire HD2600.
		CPU Intel Q6600 quad core.
		Board is Giabyte P35.

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and I apologize for the delayed reponse. Updates to this package have been released since it was first reported. If you have time to update the package and re-test, please do so and report the results here. You can obtain the updated package by typing 'yum update kernel' and 'yum update xorg-x11-drv-ati' or using the graphical updater, Software Update.

Comment 2 Patrick Dubois 2012-05-28 10:29:32 UTC
Hello Jason,

The ATI card in question has been scrapped in favor of a newer card that did not seem to be affected by this bug.

This unfortunatly means I have no way of testing the updates with regards to this bug report.

I'll close this issue.

Thanks!
