Comment 1 Tero Koskinen 2011-08-28 20:34:17 UTC
Oops, I mixed actual and expected results. Correction below:

Actual results:
Kernel panic at firmware_free_data

Expected results:
Booting works, installer starts

Comment 2 Josh Boyer 2011-09-13 13:45:41 UTC
The Alpha was released with a 3.0.x kernel and we've moved on to a 3.1 based kernel for F16 at this point. Does this happen with the nightly livecds or the test Beta livecds? Or if you have F15 installed, does this happen with the 2.6.40.x kernels there?

Comment 3 Tero Koskinen 2011-09-14 18:57:15 UTC
I tested with the latest Beta DVD iso from
http://dl.fedoraproject.org/pub/alt/stage/16-Beta.TC1/Fedora/x86_64/iso/ and the installer does not crash anymore.

(Also, I have existing F15/i386 installation which works perfectly.)

Closing the bug as "worksforme".
