The content of generic-release-16-0.2.noarch is very different from what is in fedora-release-16-0.9.noarch and it is currently not really usable as anything but a place-holder. Especially: * the relevant yum repos are not enabled * the right keys are not included I would expect generic-release to be a real alternative to fedora-release, and I would expect it to be updated whenever fedora-release is updated.
generic-release is done as a convenience only. While I'm happy to update it when it gets out of sync, please don't "expect" anything.
