RHEL Engineering is moving the tracking of its product development work on RHEL 6 through RHEL 9 to Red Hat Jira (issues.redhat.com). If you're a Red Hat customer, please continue to file support cases via the Red Hat customer portal. If you're not, please head to the "RHEL project" in Red Hat Jira and file new tickets here. Individual Bugzilla bugs in the statuses "NEW", "ASSIGNED", and "POST" are being migrated throughout September 2023. Bugs of Red Hat partners with an assigned Engineering Partner Manager (EPM) are migrated in late September as per pre-agreed dates. Bugs against components "kernel", "kernel-rt", and "kpatch" are only migrated if still in "NEW" or "ASSIGNED". If you cannot log in to RH Jira, please consult article #7032570. That failing, please send an e-mail to the RH Jira admins at rh-issues@redhat.com to troubleshoot your issue as a user management inquiry. The email creates a ServiceNow ticket with Red Hat. Individual Bugzilla bugs that are migrated will be moved to status "CLOSED", resolution "MIGRATED", and set with "MigratedToJIRA" in "Keywords". The link to the successor Jira issue will be found under "Links", have a little "two-footprint" icon next to it, and direct you to the "RHEL project" in Red Hat Jira (issue links are of type "https://issues.redhat.com/browse/RHEL-XXXX", where "X" is a digit). This same link will be available in a blue banner at the top of the page informing you that that bug has been migrated.

screenshot of the "Loading..." window.

Description of problem:

Software Update does not show the x86_64 package information when you are running a RHEL6.1 64 bits and have the same package in both architectures to be updated. You can see the 32 bits package information but when select the 64 bits, it shows only "Loading..." in the information box.

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):

gnome-packagekit-2.28.3-3.el6.x86_64
PackageKit-gtk-module-0.5.8-19.el6.x86_64
PackageKit-gtk-module-0.5.8-19.el6.i686
PackageKit-glib-0.5.8-19.el6.x86_64
PackageKit-gstreamer-plugin-0.5.8-19.el6.x86_64
PackageKit-yum-plugin-0.5.8-19.el6.x86_64
PackageKit-device-rebind-0.5.8-19.el6.x86_64
PackageKit-yum-0.5.8-19.el6.x86_64
PackageKit-0.5.8-19.el6.x86_64

How reproducible:

Steps to Reproduce:

2. Open Software Update
3. Select the 64 bits version of the package to be updated

Actual results:

> 1. Ensure you have 32 and 64 versions update of a given package
> 2. Open Software Update
> 3. Select the 64 bits version of the package to be updated

I can reproduce this. Working on a fix now.

Comment 4 Richard Hughes 2012-02-02 17:38:13 UTC
I've fixed this upstream with the following fix:

commit 2e8cfeeec2f81a32f324ce4ed3b31bfc59c07d2f
Author: Richard Hughes <richard>
Date: Thu Feb 2 17:30:53 2012 +0000

Try harder to find the correct update item in the update viewer

Try to find the exact package ID before falling back to the name in the update
viewer. This ensures we find both versions of a package when we have installed
    multarch versions.
