Created attachment 528342 [details] printer troubleshooter Description of problem: When connecting a HP Laserjet m1319f MPF and a print is attempted, the Printer State changes to "/usr/lib/cups/filter/hpcups failed" and the status message changes to "Printer 'HP-Laserjet-M1319f MPF' : 'hplip.plugin'. This seems to occur whether or not hplip is installed. Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable): cups-1.5.0-16.fc16 How reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Connect HP laserjet m1319f 2. Allow system to install drivers 3. Try printing test page Actual results: Error message Expected results: Printed document Additional info: #rpm -q cups hplip cups-1.5.0-16.fc16.i686 package hplip is not installed

I know for sure I got an error with hplip the first time.
You need the proprietary plug-in installed. The PPD has a proper message to tell you that, but GNOME doesn't show you that message (bug #744025). *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of bug 744025 ***
