Description Russell Steffen 2002-10-01 17:13:49 UTC
From Bugzilla Helper:
User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; en-US; rv:1.1) Gecko/20020827
MultiZilla/v1.1.22

Description of problem:
Attempting to start a graphical install of Red Hat 8 as a guest
OS under VMware fails. The X server stops with the message:
AddScreen/ScreenInit failed for driver 0

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):

How reproducible:
Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Boot VMware into Red Hat 8 installer
2. Select graphical installation at the boot menu
3.

Actual Results: X Server dies with error message after briefly blanking and
resizing
the VMware window. The error message left in /tmp/X.log is :

Fatal server error:
AddScreen/ScreenInit failed for driver 0

Expected Results: Should have started the X server and continued on through the
installation.

Additional info:

The text install seems to work better under VMware, however the text installer
is missing important functionality (like LVM comfiguration).
