How reproducible:
100%.  happened to me.  happened to jshaughn and jsanda in sprint demo

Steps to Reproduce:
1. basic primary use case.  
2. platform resource, file based drift configuration
3. click detect now. 
  
Actual results:
NPE

Expected results:
no NPE

documenting from 10/27/2011 scrum that neither jsanda or jshaughn can repro this now.  mfoley retested build #645 .. and it is not occurring.
