Description of problem: Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable): How reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: Reference: http://forums.fedoraforum.org/showthread.php?t=204752 1. Clean install of F16 x86_64 2. Create initial user; log in (to setup networking); log out 3. ctrl-alt-f5; login as root; yum update -y # now follow the forum posting 4. yum update kernel\* # nothing should happen 5. reboot 6. yum --nogpgcheck install http://download1.rpmfusion.org/free/fedora/rpmfusion-free-release-rawhide.noarch.rpm http://download1.rpmfusion.org/nonfree/fedora/rpmfusion-nonfree-release-rawhide.noarch.rpm yum install akmod-nvidia xorg-x11-drv-nvidia-libs.i686 7. mv /boot/initramfs-$(uname -r).img /boot/initramfs-$(uname -r)-nouveau.img dracut /boot/initramfs-$(uname -r).img $(uname -r) 8. yum --nogpgcheck update libsepol http://kojipkgs.fedoraproject.org/packages/selinux-policy/3.10.0/53.fc16/noarch/selinux-policy-3.10.0-53.fc16.noarch.rpm \ http://kojipkgs.fedoraproject.org/packages/selinux-policy/3.10.0/53.fc16/noarch/selinux-policy-targeted-3.10.0-53.fc16.noarch.rpm --enablerepo=u*g 9. reboot Actual results: Resizing windows is extremely slow. Having 3 or more windows open is slow. Using volume keys or adjusting screen brightness (basically triggering the overlay with the icon and the meter) locks the system for 15 or so seconds. Expected results: It should run faster with NVidia than with Nouveau Additional info: http://www.smolts.org/client/show/pub_fda941b7-4159-4df5-87bc-aff7fc15bbd9
I suggest you report this to the NVidia driver maintainers. We don't ship that driver, and we can't fix it.
