Description of problem: I think we have a bit of a xrandr problem. have an Compaq 8510w with an nvidia chipset in it running the nouveau driver that comes default with F16. The problem is that if I boot the laptop from the laptop dock connected to a single monitor with the lid closed, and then attempt to remove it from the dock and then flip the lid open I will get a black screen. There doesn't seem to be any way to recover from this. I cannot put the laptop back on the dock and have it come back. Going to text mode doesn't do anything either. I end up powering off the laptop in order to fix things. Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable): How reproducible: Put laptop on dock, keep lid closed, turn on laptop. Once at GDM screen, take the laptop off the dock and flip the lid open. Steps to Reproduce: 1. 2. 3. Actual results: Black screen Expected results: I expect that gdm screen to show up on the local laptop monitor. Additional info: I am using the GNOME 3 desktop environment.

Dave - thank you for spending time on this bug. I appreciate it. I didn't get a chance to test the fix. I'll try it on F17 and let you know. Closing this is appropriate.
