Comment 3 Dominik Pospisil 2011-11-28 14:47:19 UTC
The update is missing Luxrender python binding library (pylux). The plugin can be now enabled in blender and also scene exporting works. However, blender is unable to launch luxrender:

[Lux 2011-Nov-28 14:34:58] WARNING: Binary pylux module not available! Visit http://www.luxrender.net/ to obtain one for your system.
[Lux 2011-Nov-28 14:34:58] (ImportError was: cannot import name pylux)
[Lux 2011-Nov-28 14:35:42] ERROR: Material previews require pylux

Steps to reproduce:
1) Start blender
2) Go to user prefs -> Addons -> Renderers
3) Enable LuxRender
4) Set Luxrender as active scene renderer
5) Render scene - hit F12

Comment 4 Dominik Pospisil 2011-11-28 14:48:30 UTC
Please include pylux in LuxRender-blender package if possible so the luxrender integration works out of the box.

Comment 5 Jochen Schmitt 2011-11-30 15:20:00 UTC
On github.com/YafaRay there is a prerelease of YafaRay-0.1.2 which should works with blender-2.5 and above. It may be nice, if you can package it.

Comment 6 Fedora Update System 2011-12-02 21:32:22 UTC
blender-2.59-3.fc16, LuxRender-0.8.0-3.fc16 has been pushed to the Fedora 16 stable repository. If problems still persist, please make note of it in this bug report.

This quite old bug report is still not resolved.
It shouldn't be on a CLOSED/ERRATA status.

Fedora 17.
LuxRender-blender ( LuxRender-blender-1.0-2.fc17.x86_64 ) just doesn't work, as outlined in Comment #3.
The YafaRay-blender ( YafaRay-blender-0.1.1-6.fc17.x86_64 ) doesn't even show up among the available renderers. And, the packaged version is outdated, given blender-2.64a-2.fc17.x86_64.
With blender 2.6x, YafaRay 0.1.2 is required (even thou it's called "0.1.2 beta").

I had to use third-party Blender/YafaRay builds and compile LuxRender on my own.
