Description of Problem: gnumeric-1.0.9-2 has problems showing fxe from excel workbooks. It truncates any 8-bit chars in norwegian when running with the default locale. Running with LC_ALL=no_NO "fixes" it. Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable): How Reproducible: Steps to Reproduce: 1. 2. 3. Actual Results: Expected Results: Additional Information:
This is much more likely to get fixed if also filed on bugzilla.gnome.org (Even better, ideally gnumeric 2 will be out by our next release.)
Heh. Obviously bugzilla has problems with 8-bit chars too. Anyway, I don't think that making gnumeric utf8 aware is going to happen in 1.0.x. Any other ways to "fix" this for 8.0? Maybe making a FAQ with these kinds of things would be good? On the other hand, some of the "legacy" gtk apps seem to have been fixed before the release if I remember correctly - or maybe that was just the strings in the gui?
I don't really know how hard it would be to fix - maybe it's simple and Jody could patch it up easily, maybe it's just a bug to be documented... hard to know.
I think it's fair to say if upstream fixes this it will be fixed, otherwise no, so let's just move it to gnome.org.
