Description of problem: When Transmission starts to download torrents, the WLAN suddenly disconnects. You have to restart the wifi device to reconnect to WLAN. Additional info: My Wifi-Device: Realtek Semiconductor Corp. RTL8187 Wireless Adapter The inet is full of discriptions on this bug, but no solution yet, maybe interesting: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/374650?comments=all
This workaround does not solve the issue: https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=519154#c11
Did a completely new install of Fedora 16, to exclude my fault. And the disconnects does not happen only downloading a torrent, they happen whatever i do, surfing, downloading via the browser, or streaming vids. Help, or just a slight response would be appreciated, this bug sucks extremely,...
Created attachment 540015 [details] /var/log/messages-Capture of one typical random disconnect
Created attachment 540068 [details] excerpts from dmesg and /var/log/messages for wlan0
I'm having the same issue, totally cramping my style while trying to configure my new Amazon EC2 instance over ssh... had to switch to another distro on my laptop. Please let me know if more information would help. It's been going on randomly (sometimes a few days with no issues, sometimes 5-6 times a day) since installation right after release. Running 3.1.2-1.fc16.x86_64 on an hp 6930p. Bus 003 Device 002: ID 03f0:171d Hewlett-Packard Wireless (Bluetooth + WLAN) Interface [Integrated Module] 02:00.0 Network controller: Intel Corporation Ultimate N WiFi Link 5300 Thanks
i am also having the same issue. see also: http://forums.fedoraforum.org/showthread.php?t=273075 http://forums.fedoraforum.org/showthread.php?t=273403 http://forums.fedoraforum.org/showthread.php?t=273442
Got a workaround: Use wcid instead of NetworkManager http://forums.fedoraforum.org/showthread.php?p=1535913#post1535913 I'm testing since 1 1/2 hours without any disconnect, everything works fine like it should. Reporting back if anything changes!
Do you experience the issue when connecting manually with wpa_supplicant (NM disabled)? Could you grab the supplicant log with "-dddt" debugging option? Also for iwlagn driver, it would be helpful if someone can report if adding swcrypto=1 and/or 11n_disable=1 option help. # rmmod iwlagn # modprobe iwlagn swcrypto=1 11n_disable=1
Booted up today, with network manager, made it around 5 minutes before wifi dropped. Tried the iwlagn options above following suggestions; it's been 4 hours so far with no drops.
I use debian and I have the same problem with iwlagn: deconnection each 5-10 minutes. With: # modprobe iwlagn swcrypto=1 11n_disable=1 I have no deconnection anymore. Thanks!
hello Eugen Dedu, sorry for my poor english. i also have tested ubuntu 1110 x86_64 just now. after "sudo modprobe iwlagn swcrypto=1 11n_disable=1", but it could not connect the LAN any more. why? and thanks! hardware: lenovo g475 ship with gAR9285

I have the same problems after upgrading to Fedora 15 (from 14) a few weeks ago. I have a desktop and a netbook and I have problems on both machines (both have Atheros chipsets). Output on /var/log/messages is similar to that of attachment 540015 [details] by Jake Jackson.
(In reply to comment #8) > Also for iwlagn driver, it would be helpful if someone can report if adding > swcrypto=1 and/or 11n_disable=1 option help. Seems to be better. After some updates that driver was changed silently from iwlagn to iwlwifi (at least for me, ThinkPad T400, device is 03:00.0 Network controller: Intel Corporation PRO/Wireless 5100 AGN [Shiloh] Network Connection). Now it is necessary to apply this workaround by: # rmmod iwlwifi # modprobe iwlwifi swcrypto=1 11n_disable=1 Or permanently by adding line: options iwlwifi swcrypto=1 11n_disable=1 to file /etc/modprobe.d/local.conf Anyway the problem exist only with particular APs, my home AP is TP-Link and there is no problem, at work there is Cisco AP and problems are causing the disconnects very often (at least before that fix was done).
The driver has been renamed in recent kernels: https://git.kernel.org/?p=linux/kernel/git/torvalds/linux-2.6.git;a=commitdiff;h=3c607d27c818cf4a5d28f2c73b18a88f8fbdfa33 The disconnection problem is probably in interaction with 802.11n enabled APs (11n_disable=1 solves that by disabling 11n functionality). Closing the bug for now as it's not a NetworkManager bug. Feel free to reopen and assign to kernel if you still have problems.
