Description of problem: After shutting down the OS the laptop will not display the BIOS screen and boot. The power cable and battery need to be removed to resolve Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable): fedora core 16 How reproducible: shutdown laptop. switch on laptop Steps to Reproduce: 1.shutdown laptop 2.switch on laptop 3. Actual results: laptop shuts down after 5 - 10s. Screen remains blank no BIOS screen displayed Expected results: laptop should boot into fedora 16 OS Additional info: I have guessed the component name.
This bug does not occur if you shutdown the laptop from a terminal shutdown -h 0
Are you still seeing this with the 3.2.7 or newer kernel? If so, when you shutdown from a terminal is X still running or are you switching to the equivalent of runlevel 3 first? When you shutdown from the desktop, how are you doing that (from gnome-terminal, via menu options, etc)? What graphics hardware do you have?
