Description of problem: Grub2 is in English, but when I see the source, I can see a po folder (for me a fr.po). I also see in the grub2.spec a TODO line : # TODO: rename locale files to grub2 and make sure gettext works correctly When can I have a Grub2 in french ?
A little up... Nobody know ?
Nobody seems to be interested in Grub2 translations... Actually poor, we have a lot of translations for it, but it is compiled without i18n support. Would be nice to know more about the reasons. BTW, I'm the German translator of Grub2 and would like to see it in German in the nearest future.
Seems like a duplicate of bug #817187.
Ok it's a duplicate Fore test, in my F17 beta, I do that : I download fr.mo from source (bohdi), I gz it and copy this file fr.mo.gz in /boot/grub2/locale. After reboot, grub is in french... (just a remark, the french translation have some mistake...)
@dominique: Can you be more precise about the mistakes you mention?
I see some progress here. The f18 package (and that one in f17-updates-testing) contains the available translations now. I will test it soon. If it works properly, we can close this bug.
Because there was no real progress anymore, I mark this as a duplicate as already discussed. *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of bug 817187 ***
