Two drives identically partitioned as: BIOS Boot RAID Partition SWAP Create a raid device, mount it as /, and install on it. At the end of t install the error appears. I can provide a copy of the VM if necessary. Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable): Not sure. I just downloaded F16 x86_64 on Saturday, Dec 17th from the Fedora website. How reproducible: ALL THE TIME Steps to Reproduce: 1. Run the F16 installer from, DVD or ISO, on a machine with 2 drives partitioned like above 2. Create a RAID device mounted as / 3. Just a note for next time, it is cleaner if you attach the logs as individual plain/text files instead of pasting them inline. How did you partition your disk? Just / on a RAID? No /boot and no biosboot partitions? Note, Fedora 16 has a bug where you cannot boot from /boot on a RAID without doing a little extra to install the grub raid modules. https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Common_F16_bugs#Cannot_boot_with_.2Fboot_partition_on_a_software_RAID_array
Sorry about that! I was doing multiple things at a time :( I have a BIOS Boot but not a /boot. I've been booting fedora like this for many years. After the installer fails with the boot loader error, I did reboot in rescue mode and did: grub2-install --no-floppy /dev/sda grub2-install --no-floppy /dev/sdb After reboot, I get: GRUB loading.. Welcome to GRUB! error: fd0 read error. error: fd1 read error. After this I can boot OK. My system has no floppies and I disabled anything that resembles a floppy on my BIOS but still get the errors. I researched these errors and they seem harmless. Do you agree? Thank You! Erasmo.
