+++ This bug was initially created as a clone of Bug #755609 +++ Description of problem: In KDE, the keyboard selection for input when chosen Serbian, does not show any Cyrillic layout present. Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable): kdebase-4.3.4-4.el6.x86_64 How reproducible: 100% Steps to reproduce: - Go to System Settings - Choose Regional & Language - Switch to Keyboard layout - add Serbian from the list Actual results: In the Layout variant drop-down list no Cyrillic exists, only: Default Latin Latin Unicode Latin qwerty Latin Unicode qwerty With guillemets Latin with guillemets Z and ZHE swapped Expected results: In the Layout variant drop-down list no Cyrillic exists, only: Default Cyrillic Cyrillic, Z and ZHE swapped Cyrillic with guillemets Latin Latin Unicode Latin qwerty Latin Unicode qwerty Latin with guillemets (it is correct in the layout for Montenegro (me) --- Additional comment from nperic on 2011-11-21 10:47:23 EST --- Found that both in gnome and KDE the same is reproducible. The above description is from KDE. --- Additional comment from nperic on 2011-11-21 10:50:04 EST --- Grrr in expected results I have a copy/paste mistake (sorry).. Just ignore the sentence: " In the Layout variant drop-down list no Cyrillic exists, only: " in the part with expected results, the text below it with expected layout is OK. --- Additional comment from ajax on 2011-12-06 14:54:13 EST --- This is almost certainly not in xserver. Suspect it's in xkeyboard-config. --- Additional comment from peter.hutterer on 2011-12-13 17:28:36 EST --- (In reply to comment #0) > In the Layout variant drop-down list no Cyrillic exists, only: > > Default > Latin > Latin Unicode > Latin qwerty > Latin Unicode qwerty > With guillemets > Latin with guillemets > Z and ZHE swapped The default variant for Serbian seems to be cyrillic (unlike the default for Montenegro). Is this not correct? My knowledge of Serbian is rather limited. --- Additional comment from nperic on 2011-12-14 05:11:32 EST --- The default writing in both Montenegro and Serbia (the official state-used) is Cyrillic, but for IT it is quite OK to leave Latin variant as default, since Latin writing is widely used as well. It's needed to make a list of offered keyboard layouts clearly marked - so that is visible which is Cyrillic and which Latin. Currently it is not so. The choice (list) of available layouts should look something like this: Default Latin Latin Unicode Latin qwerty Latin Unicode qwerty Latin with guillemets Cyrillic Cyrillic, Z and ZHE swapped Cyrillic with guillemets The order is not really so important I believe, and the default can be left as Latin if it is so now.
