From Bugzilla Helper: User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux 2.4.18-17.7.x i686; en-US; 0.7) Gecko/20010316 Description of problem: The latest errata gcc is 2.96-85, but some new updates, including XFree86, require newer releases and won't rebuild. Upgrading to 2.96-108 from 7.2 errata solves the problem, so why was 7.1 only updated to -85? The ability to build your own optimized rpms from sources is a rather basic requirement. A newer release should be added to errata. Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable): gcc-2.96-85 How reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1.for example: rpm --rebuild --target athlon XFree86-4.1.0-25.src.rpm (other rpms too, e.g. kernel) 2. 3. Actual Results: Error message (gcc >= 2.96-93 required) and several megabytes of unpacked sources in /usr/src/redhat/... Expected Results: XFree86-*.athlon.rpm, of course. Additional info: gcc-2.96-108 works fine so far, I'm using recompiled XFree86 at the moment.
