PyX currently Requires: tetex. TeTeX hasn't been part of Fedora in a *very long* time - since Fedora 9. The correct way to require LaTeX functionality is Requires: tex(latex) (which also works on EPEL-5.) This way PyX can also be used with TeXLive 2011, which is on the way to Fedora. http://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Features/TeXLive
PyX can be used with TexLive 2011 packages since they also provide tetex. :-) In any case you are right and I only have tetex there by accident (an oversight of my part no doubt). I am working on packaging PyX-0.11.1 and this change is fixed there already. Meanwhile version is failing to compile to me due to some problems with pyxrc, I am investigating this...
(In reply to comment #1) > PyX can be used with TexLive 2011 packages since they also provide tetex. :-) Hmm, this seems to have changed. Odd. I remember having trouble in the past with the missing require. Anyway, good to have this "fixed".
The problem is that PyX is compiled against the old version of kpathsea (from texlive-2007). I know this since I am also running texlive 2011. :-)

The real problem with that dependency (as pointed out repeatedly) is that it pulls in the whole tetex tree, which means all (OK: way too much of) texlive. Just try "yum install tetex" with a texlive-2011 Fedora. Also, as pointed out in 760524 and elsewhere, latex is not required at all by PyX (not even for the default texrunner), and tex is required only if you use pyx.text. So, forcing, say, a lean server install providing pyx-based dynamic rendering to pull in texlive is suboptimal. I mean, does python require scipy because otherwise "import scipy" fails for python scripts? Should pyx require latex because otherwise text.set(mode="latex") fails for pyx scripts?
This bug appears to have been reported against 'rawhide' during the Fedora 19 development cycle. Changing version to '19'. (As we did not run this process for some time, it could affect also pre-Fedora 19 development cycle bugs. We are very sorry. It will help us with cleanup during Fedora 19 End Of Life. Thank you.) More information and reason for this action is here: https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/BugZappers/HouseKeeping/Fedora19
This message is a notice that Fedora 19 is now at end of life. Fedora has stopped maintaining and issuing updates for Fedora 19. It is Fedora's policy to close all bug reports from releases that are no longer maintained. Approximately 4 (four) weeks from now this bug will be closed as EOL if it remains open with a Fedora 'version' of '19'. Package Maintainer: If you wish for this bug to remain open because you plan to fix it in a currently maintained version, simply change the 'version' to a later Fedora version. Thank you for reporting this issue and we are sorry that we were not able to fix it before Fedora 19 is end of life. If you would still like to see this bug fixed and are able to reproduce it against a later version of Fedora, you are encouraged change the 'version' to a later Fedora version prior this bug is closed as described in the policy above. Although we aim to fix as many bugs as possible during every release's lifetime, sometimes those efforts are overtaken by events. Often a more recent Fedora release includes newer upstream software that fixes bugs or makes them obsolete.
