Description Björn Persson 2012-01-08 19:08:22 UTC
Description of problem:
Instead of 1920×1200 pixels I get only 1920×1198 pixels from the HDMI output, and my monitor doesn't handle this unusual resolution well.

I had this problem when the hardware was new almost four years ago. After a few months the problem disappeared, presumably with some driver update. The problem returned recently when I moved to Fedora 15.

Other standard resolutions work as expected up to and including 1600×1200, but when I set it to 1920×1200 the monitor reports 1920×1198. Losing two lines of pixels wouldn't be a big problem in itself, but it triggers various strange effects in the monitor so that the only way I can get a sharp view of the whole desktop is to set the resolution to 1600×1200 or lower.

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):
xorg-x11-drv-intel-2.15.0-5.fc15.x86_64
xorg-x11-server-Xorg-1.10.4-1.fc15.x86_64
kernel-2.6.41.4-1.fc15.x86_64

How reproducible:
always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Get the same hardware as I have I suppose.
2. Install Fedora 15, presumably. I upgraded from Fedora 14.

Additional info:
The graphics controller is an Intel G35 chipset that is said to contain a "Graphics Media Accelerator X3500". lspci reports it as "Intel Corporation 82G35 Express Integrated Graphics Controller (rev 03)". The monitor is an Eizo Flexscan S2401W.

Comment 1 Fedora End Of Life 2012-08-07 14:47:45 UTC
This message is a notice that Fedora 15 is now at end of life. Fedora
has stopped maintaining and issuing updates for Fedora 15. It is
Fedora's policy to close all bug reports from releases that are no
longer maintained. At this time, all open bugs with a Fedora 'version'
of '15' have been closed as WONTFIX.

(Please note: Our normal process is to give advanced warning of this
occurring, but we forgot to do that. A thousand apologies.)

Package Maintainer: If you wish for this bug to remain open because you
plan to fix it in a currently maintained version, feel free to reopen
this bug and simply change the 'version' to a later Fedora version.

Bug Reporter: Thank you for reporting this issue and we are sorry that
we were unable to fix it before Fedora 15 reached end of life. If you
would still like to see this bug fixed and are able to reproduce it
against a later version of Fedora, you are encouraged to click on
"Clone This Bug" (top right of this page) and open it against that
version of Fedora.

Although we aim to fix as many bugs as possible during every release's
lifetime, sometimes those efforts are overtaken by events. Often a
more recent Fedora release includes newer upstream software that fixes
bugs or makes them obsolete.

The process we are following is described here:
