We have 4 jboss application servers configured and all 4 being load-balanced by 2 sun one webservers. Users face "bad gateway timeout" errors very often while accessing the application.

Please could you let us know the version(s) of the SOA platform that show this behaviour.  Also, log files
from the time that the error occurred would be useful.  Support cases for the SOA platform should be
raised through the appropriate support channels.
