Description Mark Walker 2012-01-15 20:33:41 UTC
Description of problem:
The problem is that of ending up at a Grub command line after upgrading, and not knowing what to enter to be able to continue and boot the newly upgraded machine.

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):
Fedora 15 upgrade to Fedora 16

How reproducible:
Install or upgrade to Fedora 16

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Install Fedora 16
2. Try to boot
3. Observe Grub command line

Actual results:
User is presented with Grub command line with no further instructions on what to enter next; thus the computer remains unbootable.

Expected results:
Computer should boot normally.

Additional info:
See draft at https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/User:Marwalk/drafts
The purpose of this entry is to submit the draft description of how to edit Grub2 to allow the computer to boot after installation of Fedora 16.

Hi Mark,

Terrific - thanks for reporting this and providing a procedure.

I've incorporated it into the F17 version of the guide. You can read a draft of the new section here - http://docs.fedoraproject.org/en-US/Fedora_Draft_Documentation/0.1/html/Installation_Guide/s2-trouble-grub-command-line.html
