Description Stanislav Graf 2012-01-16 12:27:09 UTC
Description of problem:
I have prepared RHEL5 VM guest (kvm) with VNC console enabled.
After using this image for VM Universe jobs, it doesn't start because missing VNC console.

My problem solved patch proposed in Condor Ticket #2404

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):
condor-vm-gahp-7.6.3-0.3.el6.x86_64

How reproducible:
100%

Steps to Reproduce:
1. prepared RHEL5 VM guest (kvm) with VNC console enabled
2. After using this image for VM Universe jobs, it doesn't start because missing VNC console.
3. Try patch from Ticket #2404
4. VM works without problem

Actual results:
src/condor_vm-gahp/libvirt_simple_script.awk currently enables the textual console only for VMs

Expected results:
it would be useful to have a new optional parameter to enable also VNC console (disabled by default)

Comment 6 Luigi Toscano 2013-02-12 12:21:31 UTC
The required patch has been applied and can be used by specifying VM_VNC=true.

Verified on RHEL5.9/x86_64 (Xen/KVM), RHEL6.4beta/x86_64 (KVM).
condor-7.8.8-0.4.1
condor-vm-gahp-7.8.8-0.4.1

However, I would like to point out that not all the VM images shows this issue. Enabling the VNC console in the XML also enables the graphic card for the VM, which is the element that allows the VM to run. This could show some problem somewhere else, but anyway outside HTCondor.
