Description b.candler 2012-01-26 08:42:18 UTC
(1) The iptables examples at
http://download.gluster.com/pub/gluster/glusterfs/3.2/Documentation/IG/html/chap
-Installation_Guide-Installing.html#sect-Installation_Guide-Installing-RPM
and at
http://download.gluster.com/pub/gluster/glusterfs/3.2/Documentation/IG/html/sect
-Installation_Guide-Installing-Source.html
contradict each other.

Both are supposed to be for "20 storage servers and 3 bricks". However the first opens ports 24007:24047 and 38465:38467 (i.e. 41 ports and 3 ports), and the second opens ports 24007:24011 and 38465:38485 (i.e. 5 ports and 21 ports)

(2) I imagine this means 3 bricks *per server*, in which case I think it would be clearer to say "20 storage servers each with 3 bricks" or "20 storage servers and 3 bricks per server"

(3) The first URL says "(24009 + number of bricks across all volumes)" which I think is incorrect; it suggests to me that you would have to open 60 ports on a single server in this example.

Applicable only to GlusterFS Install Guide, so changing the Target Milestone and Product fields.
