Description Brendan Jones 2012-02-10 07:13:49 UTC
SRPM: http://bsjones.fedorapeople.org/freqtweak-0.7.2-2.fc16.src.rpm
SPEC: http://bsjones.fedorapeople.org/freqtweak.spec

FreqTweak is a tool for FFT-based realtime audio spectral manipulation
and display. It provides several algorithms for processing audio data
in the frequency domain and a highly interactive GUI to manipulate the
associated filters for each. It also provides high-resolution spectral
displays in the form of scrolling-raster spectragrams and energy vs
frequency plots displaying both pre- and post-processed spectra.

this is another package being moved from Planet CCRMA into Fedora.

- Desktop file:
 * Key "Categories" is a list and does not have a semicolon as trailing character.
 * Value "freqtweak.png" for key "Icon" in group "Desktop Entry" is an icon name with an extension, but there should be no extension as described in the Icon Theme Specification if the value is not an absolute path

- Source URL: md5sum doesn't match. for sourceforge.net see: https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Packaging:SourceURL#Sourceforge.net

- SourceX and PatchY should be prefixed with %{name} and %{name}-%{version} where applicable.

- Patches should have a bug report.

- You should open a bug about incorrect FSF postal address in license and code files.

- Non a blocker, but it will be interesting to make this patch suitable to all platforms:
freqtweak.spec: W: %ifarch-applied-patch Patch1: freqtweak-0.7.2-long.patch
A patch is applied inside an %ifarch block. Patches must be applied on all
architectures and may contain necessary configure and/or code patch to be
effective only on a given arch.

Comment 2 Brendan Jones 2012-04-25 02:06:10 UTC
Thanks for taking this on.

SRPM: http://bsjones.fedorapeople.org/freqtweak-0.7.2-3.fc16.src.rpm
SPEC: http://bsjones.fedorapeople.org/freqtweak.spec

Addressed all issues apart from FSF address. I am not patching it now, but will notify upstream.

Comment 3 Juan Orti 2012-04-25 10:48:16 UTC
The spec file is not updated, I take the one in the srpm.

- The Source0 url isn't working for me, it downloads a html page, please change this line with:
Source0: http://downloads.sourceforge.net/%{name}/%{name}-%{version}.tar.gz

- The man page has a unknown macro in the line 148, I have tried to delete that line and seems ok, I attach the patch I've used.

- Remember to submit the patches upstream and add a comment in the spec file with the bug report.

- In the icon scriptlets, it's missing the "|| :" at the end of some commands in %post and %postun. Add them to avoid possible errors, see: http://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Packaging:ScriptletSnippets#Icon_Cache

- In the %files section I prefer to have freqtweak substituted by %{name}

Fix the unknown macro in the man page

Comment 5 Brendan Jones 2012-04-27 15:16:59 UTC
OK, sorry about the incorrect spec. Added the man patch (thanks!) and FSF address patch. Corrected the scriptlets, macros and the source URL.

Comment 6 Juan Orti 2012-05-02 08:18:06 UTC
Hello Brendan, excuse me for not detailing that the license issue should be notified upstream, but not patched by us, because we're not allowed to patch the license texts. I suffered the same issue in another package I did.

Now the spec is ok, please remove the FSF address patch, and I'll post the final review.

Regards.

Comment 7 Brendan Jones 2012-05-02 08:29:14 UTC
Quite right, removed the COPYING patch, but left the others which is permissible and serves to help us track the issue with upstream. See https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Common_Rpmlint_issues#incorrect-fsf-address

Comment 8 Juan Orti 2012-05-02 08:43:17 UTC
This package is APPROVED.

Ignore the issue about the desktop file, it's allright.
