Doc Type: Bug Fix
Doc Text:
The text user interface version of the system-config-network service, system-config-network-tui, did not store the network configuration correctly after the system was cleaned with the sys-unconfig command. As a consequence, no network configuration was stored in the /etc/sysconfig/network-scripts/ directory. With this update, even if no previous configuration exists, system-config-network-tui stores the configuration in that directory as expected. As a result, a network configured with system-config-network-tui works after executing sys-unconfig.

Description Scott Croft 2012-02-16 19:27:12 UTC
Description of problem: When starting up a system and it is configured after previously running sys-unconfig, the ifcfg-ethX files are not populated with the data/information supplied.

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable): initscripts-8.45.38-2.el5

How reproducible: every time a new host is booted

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Execute sys-unconfig
2. Shut machine down
3. Boot up and follow steps for configuring the host
4. At the network step, fill in correct information for the network
5. Navigate to /etc/sysconfig/network-scripts and see if the ifcfg-ethX files are populated with the correct information.

Actual results:

The ifcfg-ethX files have no information

Expected results:

The ifcfg-ethX files should have the provided information

Additional info:

Comment 1 Bill Nottingham 2012-02-16 19:38:02 UTC
In RHEL 5, network configuration at this step is done by system-config-network-tui. Reassigning.

Comment 4 Branislav Blaškovič 2014-06-03 12:59:36 UTC
I can verify, that system-config-network-tui after sys-unconfig fill network-scripts (and /etc/resolv.conf) right. (IP, netmask, gateway, dns,.)

Testing with: system-config-network-1.3.99.23-1.el5
