Affects: Documentation (Ref Guide, User Guide, etc.) Help Desk Ticket Reference: https://c.na7.visual.force.com/apex/Case_View?id=500A0000005g9yu&sfdc.override=1 project_key: JBEPP Section 2.3 of the Installation Guide - http://docs.redhat.com/docs/en-US/JBoss_Enterprise_Portal_Platform/5.1/html-single/Site_Publisher_Installation_Guide/index.html#sect-Installation_Guide-Installation-Installation_Instructions - indicates that you can install Site Publisher with or without gatein-eppspdemo-portal-2.1.2-GA.ear. The steps are given to access the Site Publisher page if the demo application is installed. It directs you to the documentation if you did not install the demo app; the instructions generically refer you to the "documentation". Chapter 3 of the Site Publisher User guide - http://docs.redhat.com/docs/en-US/JBoss_Enterprise_Portal_Platform/5.1/html-single/Site_Publisher_User_Guide/index.html#chap-User_Guide-Get_Started - Gives instructions on registering a new account for Site Publisher, but the images are from the ecmdemo application. It does not appear that you can access Site Publisher without installing gatein-eppspdemo-portal-2.1.2-GA.ear. Either the Site Publisher Installation Guide needs to be changed to require users to install the demo application, or the Site Publisher User Guide needs to include instructions on getting started with Site Publisher when the demo application is not installed. In the 2nd case, the Site Publisher Installation Guide should also be updated to point to the specific documentation location.

Release Notes Docs Status: Added: Not Required
The demo isn't required. It's just here to start faster and to demo.
Reopening JIRA as issue is not resolved. This is not a problem with the technical mechanics of the demo portal, but that the documentation does not clearly outline the options and processes available to and/or required by end users if they choose not to deploy the demo. More information is required in the documentation in order to resolve this issue.
My bad, sorry :/

Some questions about using the SP extension without the ecmdemo site deployed: Accessing as root, page still shows the "Published/Edit" and the instructions in the SP User Guide section "4.3.1. Create a new site" seem to work. However, there no quick-edit icons appear over portlets when in edit mode (as stated in SP User Guide "4.4. Contribute Content"). Is this because the contents on the ecmdemo pages are SCV/CLV and the standard EPP pages are not? If so, what is the difference between SCV/CLV type content and the content on standard EPP pages? Can standard content be converted to SCV/CLV? How? Would an admin need to copy and edit the ecmdemo ear and deploy that to get the full SP functionality?
If some of the files from the demo site need to be duplicated and deployed, which ones would they be?
As an example of something that seems to be missing without the ecmdemo deployed; How does a user in this circumstance access Group → Content Explorer on the administrator bar?
The optional nature of the ecmdemo has been removed from the documentation. This will alleviate any confusion about how to use Site Publisher without it, as most of the existing documentation assumes it is deployed.
