I suspect applications may need some adjustment to use stuff from kactivities-devel instead. in this case, maybe use /usr/include/kde4/kactivities/consumer.h instead?
rudd-o, which applications are affected here? Does patching to use /usr/include/kde4/kactivities/consumer.h instead help?
