Jeremy,

Can you update version of nginx on EL5? EL5 has one old and unsupported version, probably insecure too.

Best regards

I chose not to update nginx for el5 because:
1) This CVE does not appear to affect the nginx 0.8.55
2) Packages for el5 aim for stability, not latest features
3) Nginx 0.8.x is still supported upstream [1]

I don't have a strong opinion on this, so I'd be fine if the other nginx co-maintainers want to update nginx for el5. However, I'm inclined to err on the side of stability rather than features.

[1] http://wiki.nginx.org/Install
"There are currently three versions of Nginx available: stable (1.0.x), development (1.1.x), and legacy (0.8.x)."

Comment 4 Jeremy Hinegardner 2012-03-16 19:10:05 UTC
Yes, I i'll get to el5 tomorrow, there is a patch provided by nginx for legacy versions.
