Red Hat Bugzilla – Bug 805321
Need help text or instructions on how to use search "language"
Last modified: 2014-03-18 13:38:54 EDT
Description of problem:
Using the promotions section for my organization, I created a new changeset and tried to search for a specific package to add to it. Turns out that the default search criteria is by *NVRA* which imvho is not the most intuitive form for a user. So, when I searched for katello-agent, nothing was returned (search01.png). When I searched for katello* then all packages matching katello were returned (screenshot02.png); when I search for katello-agent-0.16-1.el6.noarch, then the match I expected was returned (search03.png).
I'd argue that the most intuitive form for searching would be by package name, and definitely not by NVRA.
Talking to Justin and Brad, we agreed that we should at least provide some type of instruction (tooltip may be too non-intuitive imo) so that users know how to search.
Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):
Steps to Reproduce:
1. Go to the promotions section and select an existing Product -> Packages
2. Search by package name
I should be able to type:
* katello: return all packages that match the equivalent of LIKE %katello%
* katello-agent: return all packages that match the equivalent of LIKE %katello-agent%

Search for katello

Search for katello*
Created attachment 571537 [details]
Search for katello-agent-0.16-1.el6.noarch
not a release blocker, moving to 1.0.Z
getting rid of 6.0.0 version since that doesn't exist
