Description of problem: After upgrading my fedora 16 box to fedora 17 xscreensaver-demo seems to not work anymore. When launching the screensaver preferences from xfce menu nothing happens. Launching xscreensaver-demo --settings or xscreensaver-demo --prefs also has no effect. Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable): xscreensaver-5.15-5.fc17.x86_64 How reproducible: allways Steps to Reproduce: 1. open a terminal 2. call xscreensaver-demo --settings or xscreensaver-demo --prefs Actual results: nothing happens. Neither an error message is raised nor the configuration window opens Expected results: Configuration window should open or an error message should be raised if something went wrong Additional info:
What does strace say?
Also would you attach the result of $ rpm -qa | grep screensaver and the file ~/.xscreensaver ?
Kevin, do you see this issue?

The fun-fact is that I didn't change anything since upgrading to fedora 17 beta and xscreensaver worked fine on fedora 16
Strange thing: after starting my machine today xscreensaver-demo works again :-/
Okay, thank you for reporting anyway. If you see this issue again please let me know it.
Okay, actually I saw this on Z800 x86_64 box. strace shows that sync(2) is hanging, so I highly suspect this is the side effect of bug 812588. Once marking as a dup of bug 812588. *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of bug 812588 ***
