Description of problem: I cannot scroll in the folder pane or the message preview pane. I can only use my vertical scroll in the message pane. Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable): evolution-3.4.1-1.fc17.x86_64 How reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1.Open evolution 2.Use vertical scroll in message pane 3.Use vertical scroll in folder pane Actual results: Scrolls in message pane, but not in folder pane Expected results: Should scroll in all panes Additional info: I have vertical scrolling enabled in mouse settings. I've checked other applications, such as lifearea, where scrolling using the vertical edge scroll works as expected. There was a recent update to the xorg-x11-drv-synaptics package that may have something to do with this. However, since scrolling works as expected in other applications: firefox, lifearea; I think this is a Gnome issue. Scrolling isn't working in Empathy too. I heard there were some breakages since gnome3 shifted to xinput2, maybe this is one of them. If there's anything I could do to help fix the issue, I'd be glad. Please let me know if you need any logs/command outputs to better diagnose the issue.
Scrolling worked correctly in all panes on a reboot. It just stopped randomly now. It doesn't work in any pane now. Restarting evolution did not help Ankur
Thanks for a bug report. There is filled a similar upstream bug [1], thus I'm moving this there. Please see [1] for any further updates. If possible, please CC yourself there, in case upstream developers will have additional questions. The upstream bug also contains a proposed patch, which didn't help to the reporter, but it seems to be basically the same fix which was done for gnome-terminal, where it works as expected, thus it either is not complete or the reporter is facing a different issue. Can I create a test package for you to check whether the upstream fix will work for you or not, please? [1] https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=671585

Hi Milan, I've CC'd myself to the upstream bug. > > The upstream bug also contains a proposed patch, which didn't help to the > reporter, but it seems to be basically the same fix which was done for > gnome-terminal, where it works as expected, thus it either is not complete or > the reporter is facing a different issue. I'll be glad to test out the patch for you! Thanks :) Ankur

No change, scrolling still doesn't work. :/ Thanks, Ankur
OK, thanks for the confirmation (of incompleteness of the proposed upstream patch). The only problem is that I cannot reproduce it in my VM, otherwise the testing would be much easier. Maybe the real machine will suffer of the issue.
Hi Milan, I noticed that the bug disappeared after an update to the xorg-x11-drv-synaptics package. I think it was a bug in the synaptics driver. This would explain why you had trouble reproducing it on your VM too. The bug is closed already. I'm changing the status from Upstream to WORKSFORME. Thanks for trying to diagnose it anyway :) Ankur
