Description of the problem: after a fresh installation of Fedora 16 there is no sound. The audio controller is correctly detected and all settings can be adjusted (including volume). Everything is fine except there is no output. Solution of the problem: create a .conf file in /etc/modprobe.d with the following line: "options snd-hda-intel model=generic". Reboot and the audio works as it should (no other adjustments needed). Kernel: kernel-3.1.0-7.fc16.x86_64 through kernel-3.3.2-1.fc16.x86_64 Audio device: Intel Corporation N10/ICH 7 Family High Definition Audio Controller (rev 01) How reproducible: install Fedora 16 Additional info: Scientific Linux 6 had been installed on this computer. Up until kernel 2.6.32-131.21.1.el6.x86_64 there was no problem with the audio. When kernel 2.6.32-220.2.1.el6.x86_64 was released the same problem appeared (and the same solution worked).

I am not using Fedora anymore, so not able to test this. As far as I am concerned, this bugreport can be closed.
