RHEL Engineering is moving the tracking of its product development work on RHEL 6 through RHEL 9 to Red Hat Jira (issues.redhat.com). If you're a Red Hat customer, please continue to file support cases via the Red Hat customer portal. If you're not, please head to the "RHEL project" in Red Hat Jira and file new tickets here. Individual Bugzilla bugs in the statuses "NEW", "ASSIGNED", and "POST" are being migrated throughout September 2023. Bugs of Red Hat partners with an assigned Engineering Partner Manager (EPM) are migrated in late September as per pre-agreed dates. Bugs against components "kernel", "kernel-rt", and "kpatch" are only migrated if still in "NEW" or "ASSIGNED". If you cannot log in to RH Jira, please consult article #7032570. That failing, please send an e-mail to the RH Jira admins at rh-issues@redhat.com to troubleshoot your issue as a user management inquiry. The email creates a ServiceNow ticket with Red Hat. Individual Bugzilla bugs that are migrated will be moved to status "CLOSED", resolution "MIGRATED", and set with "MigratedToJIRA" in "Keywords". The link to the successor Jira issue will be found under "Links", have a little "two-footprint" icon next to it, and direct you to the "RHEL project" in Red Hat Jira (issue links are of type "https://issues.redhat.com/browse/RHEL-XXXX", where "X" is a digit). This same link will be available in a blue banner at the top of the page informing you that that bug has been migrated.

Description wenchao xia 2012-04-23 03:11:22 UTC
Description of problem:
python with a version lower than v2.7.3 and v3.2, have bad bugs in Pipe and
Thread, it is a race condition.

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):
v2.7.2

How reproducible:
    often but not every time.

Steps to Reproduce:
1. download the attachment as a test script.
2. run it for several times.
3. observe that if thread 1 hangs.

Actual results:
   sometimes it hangs.

Expected results:
   it should never hang.

Additional info:
Python 2.7.3 was just released on 11 April 2012, and my test script passed
on it. When I spy on the source code of cpython project, I found no special
patch fixing the bug, and the information I got is that many subprocess changes
was back ported from python3.2+, and the mechanisms changes. Related python
issue track:
    http://bugs.python.org/issue2320
I tested my script on some version of Python: result is:
Python3: later than Python v3.2.2, pass.
    Python2: Python v2.7.3, pass. Python v2.7.2, fail. Python v2.7.2+(ubuntu),
fail.

Comment 2 wenchao xia 2012-04-23 03:16:15 UTC
it is duplicated from
https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=814492

and want to confirm whether update package is available in el6.

Comment 3 wenchao xia 2012-04-24 07:28:17 UTC
tested on python2.6.6 on rhel6.2, unable to reproduce it.
