Description Andrew J. Schorr 2012-05-16 17:39:36 UTC
Created attachment 585027 [details]
Patch /usr/sbin/dkms to invoke dracut properly.

Description of problem: When I attempt to update a kernel driver installed with dkms, it fails (dracut returns an error). In /var/log/dracut.log, I see this:

D: Executing /sbin/dracut 3.3.5-2.fc16.x86_64
F: Will not override existing initramfs (/3.3.5-2.fc16.x86_64) without --force

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable): dkms-2.2.0.3

How reproducible: Install a kernel driver that uses dkms.

Steps to Reproduce:
1. rpm -Uvh fubar-dkms.noarch.rpm
2.
3.

Actual results: dracut....(bad exit status: 1)

Expected results: dracut should succeed.

Has anyone submitted this upstream? This bit me in RHEL6.3 recently with SolarFlare NIC drivers that rely on DKMS.

Comment 2 Fedora End Of Life 2013-04-03 17:43:26 UTC
This bug appears to have been reported against 'rawhide' during the Fedora 19 development cycle.
Changing version to '19'.

(As we did not run this process for some time, it could affect also pre-Fedora 19 development
cycle bugs. We are very sorry. It will help us with cleanup during Fedora 19 End Of Life. Thank you.)
