The incorrect SYSFONT=True is Bug 799401.

The simplest way to get the localization you want is to choose it when you install Fedora. That will make sure it gets set all the right places.

Translations are however incomplete. You can help by getting involved as translator - either in Fedora or upstream in the various projects shipped with Fedora.

The True SYSFONT is a minor bug, ignored for me.
In the momento of installation, i selected correctly all, buenos aires, argentina, spanish, keyboard layout es, so, is a bug.

Ah!, errata:

Momento == moment, instance, etc

The SYSFONT bug 799401 is present on F17 final release, KDE spin.

I can't reproduce for default Spanish DVD install.

See comments below for Live.

Please describe your installation steps in full here.

For Live I think only GNOME Desktop spin allows changing
the language *before* install with anaconda, but you have
to logout once and back in for it to take affect.

Anyway I think we really need a way to set the Live
language at boot time.

Explicitly:

1. I did a fresh install in Spanish from F17 x86_64 DVD.
2. (I chose Spanish on the first screen of the anaconda installer)
3. Spanish install completes and I reboot
4. Firstboot and then gdm running normally in Spanish
5. /etc/sysconfig/i18n contains LANG="es_ES.UTF-8".

No problem.

The Live "issue" is well-known but not new as you say.
Unfortunately LXDE and XFCE do not support changing language
and nor does gdm these days. :-(

Comment 7 Jens Petersen 2012-06-06 08:36:25 UTC
I opened bug 829207 to request having anaconda show language selection screen for Live installs.

Comment 8 Jens Petersen 2012-06-12 02:28:12 UTC
Also note that just setting the keyboard layout in anaconda does not affect the system locale of the installation.

Comment 9 sebagabor 2012-06-12 06:03:08 UTC
Severity: low ? People install system and can't start it properly and you call it low ? heh... In other projects it would be consider as major or critical

Comment 10 Jens Petersen 2012-06-20 08:07:14 UTC
Low is the default Severity set for bugs.

A workaround would be to install system-config-language and use
it change the system locale.

I hope this may improve for F18 - as always help is welcome.

Comment 11 Jens Petersen 2012-06-20 08:10:42 UTC
Moving this to Live KDE, since Gnome Live can do this though unintuitively.

Comment 12 xset1980 2012-09-03 10:44:40 UTC
Mm in fresh install the bug is present ever from live CD, spin or not spin. I use Fedora from 12, ever i change the language of terminal from /etc/sysconfig/i18 because anaconda no change it for me

Comment 14 Fedora End Of Life 2013-07-03 22:27:30 UTC
This message is a reminder that Fedora 17 is nearing its end of life.
Approximately 4 (four) weeks from now Fedora will stop maintaining
and issuing updates for Fedora 17. It is Fedora's policy to close all
bug reports from releases that are no longer maintained. At that time
this bug will be closed as WONTFIX if it remains open with a Fedora
'version' of '17'.

Package Maintainer: If you wish for this bug to remain open because you
plan to fix it in a currently maintained version, simply change the 'version'
to a later Fedora version prior to Fedora 17's end of life.

Bug Reporter: Thank you for reporting this issue and we are sorry that
we may not be able to fix it before Fedora 17 is end of life. If you
would still like to see this bug fixed and are able to reproduce it
against a later version of Fedora, you are encouraged change the
'version' to a later Fedora version prior to Fedora 17's end of life.

Although we aim to fix as many bugs as possible during every release's
lifetime, sometimes those efforts are overtaken by events. Often a
more recent Fedora release includes newer upstream software that fixes
bugs or makes them obsolete.

Comment 15 Jens Petersen 2013-07-04 01:50:02 UTC
I think this is fixed in f18 anaconda and later, right?

Comment 16 Jens Petersen 2013-07-25 06:48:44 UTC
Seems so anaconda 18 and later has language choice on first screen.
