Description Claudio Cuqui 2012-06-11 03:40:19 UTC
Description of problem:

When tried to pair with Nokia BH-503 bluetooth Headset, got the error messages below and no hardware device show up in sound settings:

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):

How reproducible:

Steps to Reproduce:
1.Put Nokia BH-503 headset in discovery mode
2.Add device via Bluetooth Settings
3.After that, bluetooth headset is showed in device list but is not showed as Hardware in gnome-sound-settings

Actual results: Device doesn´t work.

Expected results:

Headset paired successfully and operational and listed in Sound Settings Hardware.

Additional info: It worked once, but after some kernel/blutooth upgrade stop to work. Tried with last kernel (3.4.2) with same results. Looks related with iwlwifi module or bluez package.

I can confirm the same problem with the same model headset.

In Fedora 14, with the same headset, USB bluetooth adapter, and computer, it used to work just fine.

The same headset and the same bluetooth adapter also worked just fine on Fedora 16.

*** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of bug 787405 ***

Comment 3 Rex Dieter 2012-12-02 04:59:25 UTC
I'm going to undupe the report for now, the target dup is against phonon (for now) at least, and since f16 only saw one minor update and that this worked at some point initially, the most likely culprit is kernel now.

Comment 4 Basil Mohamed Gohar 2012-12-02 16:19:27 UTC
Since this bug is getting some eyes on it again, in my case the problem is on Fedora 17, and when I tried F18 Alpha, it appeared to be working again, though not as smoothly as when I was using F16.

Comment 5 Fedora End Of Life 2013-01-16 22:59:11 UTC
This message is a reminder that Fedora 16 is nearing its end of life.
Approximately 4 (four) weeks from now Fedora will stop maintaining
and issuing updates for Fedora 16. It is Fedora's policy to close all
bug reports from releases that are no longer maintained. At that time
this bug will be closed as WONTFIX if it remains open with a Fedora
'version' of '16'.

Package Maintainer: If you wish for this bug to remain open because you
plan to fix it in a currently maintained version, simply change the 'version'
to a later Fedora version prior to Fedora 16's end of life.

Bug Reporter: Thank you for reporting this issue and we are sorry that
we may not be able to fix it before Fedora 16 is end of life. If you
would still like to see this bug fixed and are able to reproduce it
against a later version of Fedora, you are encouraged to click on
"Clone This Bug" and open it against that version of Fedora.

Although we aim to fix as many bugs as possible during every release's
lifetime, sometimes those efforts are overtaken by events. Often a
more recent Fedora release includes newer upstream software that fixes
bugs or makes them obsolete.

The process we are following is described here:

Comment 6 Fedora End Of Life 2013-02-14 01:29:09 UTC
Fedora 16 changed to end-of-life (EOL) status on 2013-02-12. Fedora 16 is
no longer maintained, which means that it will not receive any further
security or bug fix updates. As a result we are closing this bug.

If you can reproduce this bug against a currently maintained version of
Fedora please feel free to reopen this bug against that version.

Thank you for reporting this bug and we are sorry it could not be fixed.
