Note: This bug is displayed in read-only format because the product is no longer active in Red Hat Bugzilla.
RHEL Engineering is moving the tracking of its product development work on RHEL 6 through RHEL 9 to Red Hat Jira (issues.redhat.com). If you're a Red Hat customer, please continue to file support cases via the Red Hat customer portal. If you're not, please head to the "RHEL project" in Red Hat Jira and file new tickets here. Individual Bugzilla bugs in the statuses "NEW", "ASSIGNED", and "POST" are being migrated throughout September 2023. Bugs of Red Hat partners with an assigned Engineering Partner Manager (EPM) are migrated in late September as per pre-agreed dates. Bugs against components "kernel", "kernel-rt", and "kpatch" are only migrated if still in "NEW" or "ASSIGNED". If you cannot log in to RH Jira, please consult article #7032570. That failing, please send an e-mail to the RH Jira admins at rh-issues@redhat.com to troubleshoot your issue as a user management inquiry. The email creates a ServiceNow ticket with Red Hat. Individual Bugzilla bugs that are migrated will be moved to status "CLOSED", resolution "MIGRATED", and set with "MigratedToJIRA" in "Keywords". The link to the successor Jira issue will be found under "Links", have a little "two-footprint" icon next to it, and direct you to the "RHEL project" in Red Hat Jira (issue links are of type "https://issues.redhat.com/browse/RHEL-XXXX", where "X" is a digit). This same link will be available in a blue banner at the top of the page informing you that that bug has been migrated.

Description Tomas Jamrisko 2012-07-02 14:56:54 UTC
Description of problem:
gnome-terminal makes, for the sake of shortcuts, difference between keys found both on numerical and alfanumerical parts, which result in the same character keyboard (1-9, +-*/)

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):
gnome-terminal-3.4.1.1-1.el7.x86_64

How reproducible:
Always (at least on Lenovo T410, and SK-8825 keyboad)

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Try zooming in with ctrl++ (on numerical part)

Actual results:
Nothing happens

Expected results:
Keys resulting in the same character should be handled as the same.

Comment 5 Marek Stana 2015-05-11 08:31:04 UTC
Hi,

in gnome-terminal-3.14.2-1.el7.x86_64 problem still persist. For example with EN keyboard when you try use <ctrl>+<shift>+< =+ button> you can zoom with this shortcut but when you try <ctrl> <+> (<+> on numberic keyboard) zooming is not working.

Thanks
Marek

Comment 7 Tomas Pelka 2017-02-15 12:58:33 UTC
still an issue with gnome-terminal-3.22.1-1.el7

Comment 8 Petr Schindler 2018-07-12 09:08:21 UTC
Problem still persist in version gnome-terminal-3.28.2-2.el7.x86_64.

Comment 9 Debarshi Ray 2020-02-11 15:53:20 UTC
RHEL 7 is approaching its Extended Life Cycle Support phase. Given the non-critical nature of this bug, it's not fit for RHEL 7 anymore. Let's try to fix this for RHEL 8.

Comment 13 Michal Odehnal 2020-10-21 12:41:14 UTC
Still reproducible in gnome-terminal-3.28.3-2.el8.x86_64

Comment 14 Debarshi Ray 2020-11-30 22:40:51 UTC
Built gnome-terminal-3.28.3-3.el8:
