Description Trevor Blanc 2012-07-09 15:55:46 EDT
Description of problem:
The OS hangs or freezes randomly, but especially when I click inside of pop-up dialog boxes while they are still expanding from the top of the window or while installing an addon for firefox or a package thru the "Add/remove software" application, but never freezes when installing in terminal with yum install.

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):
Fedora 15

How reproducible:
Clicking inside a dialog box while still "expanding", or downloading a package thru a .yum or .rpm or thru fedora's installer GUI application, or installing an addon for firefox.

Steps to Reproduce:
Dialog box freeze bug:
Click inside a dialog box while still expanding from the top of window

Installing package freeze bug:
Do not use terminal to install applications, use fedora's GUI software adder.
Note: it does not happen all the time, just most of the time.

Actual results:
Freezing/hanging ALWAYS with dialog box bug
Freezing/hanging most of the time with installing bug

Expected results:
Dialog box:
nothing to happen when clicking inside it while still expanding

Installing packages thru GUI:
The application to install correctly.

Additional info: When I installed fedora 15 from a DVD it froze during "Installing bootloader" on the setting "Shrink current partition" so it completely screwed up my hard drive because I had to hard reset (hold the power button) and I had no more windows, my only choice was to completely reset the hard drive and install fedora.

I am using a Compaq Prestario 64 bit which had Windows 7 before the partitions corrupted thanks to your installer, there is an AMD Sempron 140 processor and Nvidia Geforce with Cuda, 2gb RAM and 500gb hard drive.
Comment 1 Fedora End Of Life 2012-08-07 13:16:36 EDT
This message is a notice that Fedora 15 is now at end of life. Fedora
has stopped maintaining and issuing updates for Fedora 15. It is
Fedora's policy to close all bug reports from releases that are no
longer maintained. At this time, all open bugs with a Fedora 'version'
of '15' have been closed as WONTFIX.

(Please note: Our normal process is to give advanced warning of this
occurring, but we forgot to do that. A thousand apologies.)

Package Maintainer: If you wish for this bug to remain open because you
plan to fix it in a currently maintained version, feel free to reopen
this bug and simply change the 'version' to a later Fedora version.

Bug Reporter: Thank you for reporting this issue and we are sorry that
we were unable to fix it before Fedora 15 reached end of life. If you
would still like to see this bug fixed and are able to reproduce it
against a later version of Fedora, you are encouraged to click on
"Clone This Bug" (top right of this page) and open it against that
version of Fedora.

Although we aim to fix as many bugs as possible during every release's
lifetime, sometimes those efforts are overtaken by events. Often a
more recent Fedora release includes newer upstream software that fixes
bugs or makes them obsolete.

The process we are following is described here:
